Fitzwilliam

The Fitzwilliam Museum is located in Cambridge and contains paintings by Gainsborough, Hogarth and Constable as well as ancient antiquities and illuminated manuscripts. 

The Fitzwilliam was founded in 1816 when Richard, VII Viscount Fitzwilliam of Merrion, left his library and art collection to the University of Cambridge. The museum has five main departments which include antiquities, coins and medals, manuscripts, paintings, drawings and prints.
