Measuring 9in (23cm) across, it was offered at Sworders of Stansted Mountfitchet on November 24.
It is decorated in typical style with finely rendered Jataka scenes and a frieze of arching 'clouds' terminating in ogres' heads, and is stamped Maung Yin Maung Master Silver Smith 29 Godwin Road Rangoon.
This lot was sold with a copy of Silver from the Indian Sub-Continent and Burma during Ninety years of British Rule by Wynyard RT Wilkinson (1999), where there is a similar bowl.
Wilkinson writes that it was rare to find a piece signed in English, indicating that it was probably an exhibition piece c.1910. The market for such pieces is now driven primarily from the Far East.
Estimated at £800-1200, it sold to a Hong Kong buyer.
The buyer's premium was 22%.
