One of the pair of paintings by Dutch artist Abraham Jansz Storck that sold for £135,000 at Woolley and Wallis.
Sold as a single lot, the 12 1/4 x 16 3/4in (32 x 43cm) oils on canvas by Abraham Jansz Storck (1644-1708) were formerly in the collection of the ninth Duke of Newcastle who died in 1988. They were consigned to auction by his descendants who have been selling works with the Salisbury saleroom over the last few years.
One of the paintings, shown here, depicted the Dutch Royal Yacht with elegant company on board, while the other was of a different yacht moored on a shore being loaded with supplies.
Both were in good condition and had not been over-restored.
Against an estimate of £40,000-50,000, they sold at £135,000 to an anonymous buyer underbid by one of the auctioneers' regular private clients.
The buyer's premium was 19.5%.
