Sotheby’s New York saleroom is located at 1334 York Avenue at 72nd St on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, close to the 40-storey Belaire Condo high rise apartment building in Manhattan's affluent Upper East Side that was hit by the single-engine plane.
The auctioneers were open for regular business hours the following day.

Sotheby’s New York was closed in the afternoon of October 11 in the wake of the plane crash that killed the two people onboard, injured 21 and briefly raised fears of another terrorist attack on the city.
