Key changes across their regional network of 35 offices and salerooms include merging the Bath and Honiton rooms in new premises with better facilities in Bath, with Honiton retained as an office.
The drive for business in the north of England sees Chester upgraded and given an additional new saleroom director reporting to Anthony Bennett, who has been regional director in Chester for 12 years. He will now adopt a broader role. Bonhams’ Leeds operation will be upgraded to new offices in the most accessible part of the city centre, while in East Anglia their Ipswich rooms will relocate to Bury St Edmunds.
As reported earlier in the year, Bonhams aim to step up the competition in Edinburgh – following on from their £2m record Made-in-Scotland Sale – with a move from their George Street rooms to up-to-date premises in the new year. The move has been confirmed but, as with Bath, the new venue has yet to be revealed.
Bob Bleasdale, Bonhams UK Executive Director, with responsibility for running the regions, said their regional re-focus was all about responding to client need. “We are engaged in a process of revamping premises, moving premises within towns to maximise access, or relocating to totally new areas where business-getting promises to give us a better return on our infrastructure,” he explained.
With sales at about £50m, Mr Bleasdale said the regional total was up nearly 20 per cent on the same period last year.
Bonhams unveil stage two of their regional revamp
Bonhams have announced details of the second phase in their UK regional restructure, which will be in place by Christmas.
