On February 14, Biblion will arrange for a professional actor dressed in Shakespearean costume to meet up with your loved one at the location of your choice, where he will read a Shakespearean sonnet and hand over a bottle of champagne and a rose.
All this for a very reasonable £74.95.
Biblion also suggests that the actor hands over a book from their stock as a Valentine’s present, which is also quite a nice idea.
Suitable titles currently on the shelves include Truman Capote’s 1965 first edition of Breakfast at Tiffany’s from £279 and a deluxe edition of Romeo and Juliet at £190.
The service will be available to people living or working within 30 minutes of Central London.
Orders can be taken in advance or on the day, subject to actor availability. For booking information ring Biblion on 020 7629 1374.
Winning hearts and minds with a Valentine rent-a-sonnet
FAR from the traditional image of the stuffy bookseller, Mayfair-based Biblion, who deal in antiquarian books and first editions out of Davies Mews, W1, are celebrating St. Valentine’s Day with what can best be described as a sonnet-o-gram.
