This 5 1/4in (13cm) high electroplated teapot designed in 1879 for James Dixon and Sons, offered in a sale of decorative arts at Christie's South Kensington on July 1, fetched £80,000 (plus premium) selling to a London dealer.
Around half a dozen examples of this model have so far been recorded including one in the V&A, a near identical example, currently on sale at The Fine Art Society in London and what appears to be an identical version sold at Bukowski in Sweden in 1998 for SKr1,45m (£115,000).
