The Cobridge factory (1826-1859) produced animal figures as well as their more famous ornamental figures and busts but this Devon pair were especially rare for their large size, at 31/2in (7.5cm) high, the fact that they were leopards and their fine condition.
There were a number of good collectables in the 384-lot sale but it was no surprise when the leopards made the biggest single contribution to the £24,000 total, when they went within estimate at £5400 bid by Aberystwyth dealer John Howard.
